Hey folks,
Man o man, no idea where to begin this week but I guess I'll start with the opening title cards. We are currently expanding our plant offerings and will continue to do so each and every week. We will also be adding a featured plant section here in the weekly email so everyone can see what's new and exciting from week to week just like we currently do with the fish. We have been seeing such an increase in plant sales over the past several months just like I'm sure many of you have as well so we're going to do everything to keep up with this demand. And if there's anything you don't see just reach out to your rep and we'll check on current and upcoming availability.
Not to always keep repeating myself but it's weeks like this I live for. In addition to the plant expansion we had one of the best weeks of incoming in quite some time. So many species that we have been trying to get in for months if not longer have finally started to get filled so with that being said let's start with Asia. New fish alert!!! Well, maybe. We certainly haven't had Avocado Puffers in years and no one here seems to remember ever having gotten them before so we're calling them new for all intensive purposes. True freshwater species from Southeast Asia these active liitle guys tend to be slightly less nippy than some of the more commonly available Puffers and will readily burrow sin sandy substrate given the opportunity. So if you're displaying them keep them with little to no substrate otherwise they can suddenly disappear on you lol. Next up is not exactly new but practically is since we've only had them one time, Bloody Mary Borneo Suckers. Got in a small batch of these about a month ago and they were barely here for a day before they were sold out. Manage to get a few more this time around but I can guarantee it still won't meet the demand. If you're not familiar with these there is a pic down below and I also recommend checking them out on some of the social media platforms cuz people are posting about these like crazy. There are several new species and subspecies being offered now but this is one of the more affordable varieties. Some them are going for crazy dollars online.
In addition to new items from Asia we got some restocks of some new favorites. Red Lizard Cats are back and look just as great as the last couple of batches. This is one that we have been trying to order for the past two years and are only recently getting them filled. Rosy Loaches have also become a recent fan favorite as these stay relatively small and have almost a tangerine color to them when mature. And rounding out the list of newer items are the Clown/Rocket Killies. Now these aren't new by any stretch of the imagination but they have been fairly infrequent in their availability over the past year or so and this is only the second or third batch we've managed to get our hands on. As usual they are very small but also as usual these will be gone very quickly.
Weeks like this make very difficult to figure out what to put where in the email when there's so much exciting stuff to talk about. Colombia is finally starting to get back into the swing of things with availability improving each week. We'll start with the most limited item, South American Marble Gar. These. Are. HUGE. So much so that we had to cut the full pack down to quarter of the size it normally is. I know I say this often but these are without a doubt THE biggest I have ever seen on this species before. And like most batches they do have banged up snoots but that's to be expected with these. Doesn't ever seem to affect their appetite and heals up quick. Next up and only slightly less limited are the Chameleon Whiptails. Just about everything I just said about the Gar goes for these (except the part about their snoots, these are all fine). Huge. Beautiful. Impressive. That pretty much sums them up. And while those are tough to beat we did get in some very nice Royal Farlowellas as well. Size isn't huge but very clean looking overall. And since I'm running out of space and time I'll do a rapid fire on the rest of the Colombia highlights. Got in Marble Hatchets, Red Phantom Tetras, Ruby Tetras, Banjo Cats and Striped Pikes.
Gonna dive right in to Florida raised fish with the one everyone here is most excited about, Red Head Tapajos. Now you might be thinking to yourself "he just featured these last week". And that is true, but those were the small Asia imports. For the first time in nearly a year we have both 4" and 5" on hand. This is THE Geo that everyone is always looking for. Both are showing great color. My recommendation to anyone with a showroom is to put a couple of these on display and then buy up as many of the smalls as you can. You can make more money flipping the little ones at a greater margin than a one time sale of an adult. On the opposite end of the size spectrum we got in some Lemon Blue Eye Bushynose over the weekend. Running around 1"-1.25". These are another one that sell great on name alone. But if it's immediate splash and color you're looking for then check out this week's Neon Dwarf Rainbows cuz they offer both. Good size and absolutely radiant. And last but not least, we got in another batch of all male Azureus. Color on these is insane!
