Hey folks,
The big news for this week is that Brazil is here! We 've been trying to get this shipment in for months, but the importation permits and weather conditions have been causing issues on Brazil's side of things. It was worth the wait though because we got all kinds of cool stuff and the staple fancy plecos you expect as well!
Gold Nugget Plecos are the main draw from Brazil, and we stocked up heavily with a couple hundred of those arriving. We should have enough to be able to sell them without limits, so if you want a dozen or 24, we can accommodate that for you. I think it's not a bad idea to get that many either..... compare our price to some other wholesalers' lists and you'll see you can save quite a bit of money getting these from us. In addition to the must have Gold Nuggets we also got in Leopard Cactus and Yellow Edge Plecos (L-067).
Also from Brazil, we got a few species of cichlids that I know are going to be hot sellers. Two sizes of Geophagus Altifrons, one of the coolest looking Geophagus species that get nice streamers on the fins as adults. We have never had wild ones before, but Florida bred this species doesn't exist anymore on a commercial scale, so this is your chance to pick them up. We also got a similarly related but even more rare cichlid, the Retroculus Lapidifer. I've got pretty detailed writeups for each on their photos down below so check it out.
From Asia this week, the big thing is that Oscars are finally back in stock. I know I've been asked every single day for a month about Oscars, so I'm glad to say they're back on the list. Hopefully we have enough to make it more than a couple days. It's hard to guess because it NORMALLY would be plenty of fish, but since nobody's had them for a while, order volume may exceed fill rates.
We also had a few fish that we highlighted last week that got a price made for them and got put on the list for the first time this week, so we have those ready for you to purchase now. The two new Killifish and Reynolds Cory cats specifically come to mind.
Also, it's getting close to Pond Season for most of the country, so don't neglect your Koi availability! We have all the sizes of assortment ready to go, and I'd recommend stocking up before you think you're going to need them. If someone is ready to stock their pond and you're sold out, they're going to go buy them from someone else that DOES have them already. They're not going to wait 2 weeks on you to bring them in, most likely.
Reach out to your rep if you have any questions.

| We are now officially announcing the latest addition to the GloFish® line, Starfire Red® Gouramis! This might be the hottest fish in the line yet. Yes, they really look like this. We took this photo in our sales office without the use of any lens filters or enhancement. These are just that awesome! These will launch on May 3rd, so just around the corner. |
| Starfire Red® Angels are still shipping in good numbers. And don't be surprised if you get a couple the the patterned beauties in the mix. |
| Sunburst Orange® Pristella |
| Electric Green® Pristella |
| Galactic Purple® Danio |

| Brazil is here! And we got what's arguably in the running for being the coolest, most unique fish in the world in this shipment: Anableps, AKA 4-eyed-fish. These mudskipper-like prehistoric looking fish are fully aquatic, but have evolved very interesting frog-like eyeballs that sit half in and half out of the water as they float on the surface. These are also interestingly a livebearer that gets close to 10 inches long!!! Extremely cool animals that will surely turn heads in your shop and entice any collector of rare fish and anybody that wants to try home-breeding some extremely valuable and rare livebearers. |
| This is how they look in the tank, skimming the surface of the water. They're also fantastic jumpers, so a lid or low water level is a MUST |
| The staple fish from Brazil, the Gold Nugget Pleco (L018) are of course here in great numbers. We have two sizes, a regular and a "medium" which really is more like a large. This is the "medium" pictured here. I'd say they're average minimum 4 inches, probably closer to 5. Basically full grown for this species. |
| Here is the regular sized gold nugget, about 2 inches so not tiny by any stretch. The yellow coloration on their fins will be much more pronounced after they've had a day or two to settle in, I'm sure we'll put more pics in the email on Monday. |
| Very closely related to the L018 Gold Nugger, we also have the L081 Orange-Seam in 2 sizes. The mediums on these are not as big as the medium Gold Nuggets (this is the pic of the medium above), but the overall size on the regulars is a little larger than the regular nuggets. Orange Seams have smaller spots on the body and fins, but both get the same gold outlines |
| Above is the regular-sized Orange Seam, for comparison. About 2.5 inches. |
| The priciest and most desirable of the plecos from this Brazil shipment are these L114 Leopard Cactus Plecos. They're the perfect size, honestly. The price gets way, way higher if we order a size larger than this, and the smaller sizes don't look like much. These ones are big enough to have the spotty leopard pattern on both the body and fins, and the tails and dorsal are JUST starting to get that red color to come in they're known for. This is a perfect fish for any of you online sellers or shops that cater to higher-end clientele. |
| Last but certainly not least for the Brazilian Plecos, we have this new species to us, the L067 "Yellow-Edged" Pleco. its tough to tell in the picture, now that I look at it, but they have a flatter body shape compared to the rest, these are clearly a rapids/rapid flowing river type pleco, so I'm sure they'll do better in harder water that's not riddled with tannins compared to some of the other pleco species. They also probably require a bit more oxygenation to remain active and healthy, so turn the air stone way up on their tank if you don't have a saltwater-style powerhead to get some flow going. Color is absolutely great, and sort of reminds me of a L14 Sunshine pleco, but for a fraction of the price! |
| Wild Geophagus Altifrons are here from Brazil in two sizes. This above is the Medium, and as you can see their color is already coming in very nicely. These came in way oversized compared to the centimeter listing the supplier had on their list. Very, very nice opportunity to get a group of this sought-after Geophagus. |
| Here is the regular size Altifrons. The color hasn't started appearing yet on this size, other than a little bit of yellow in the fins. I think the mediums are the way to go if you're ok with paying a little more for the instant gratification. |
| Rare fish alert!!! Retroculous Lapidifers also came in from Brazil. These are very closely related to Geophagus, and are similarly nonaggressive towards tankmates. These, like the Laeacaras I already showed you, are from the clear-water rivers of Southeast Brazil.... so they do NOT need blackwater or low PH water! They actually prefer and do much better on a sandy bottom with higher PH and harder water, so they'll do great in most stores. They do like a good amount of flow, if possible |
| Laetacara Aruguaiae, AKA "Yellow Smiling Acaracame in absolutely perfect! These are closely related to the Curviceps we have had on the list a lot lately, but this species for some reason has never garnered widespread aquaculture interest. I think they look way better than the more common Curviceps, so i'm not sure why. These dwarf cichlids only get about 4 inches at the absolute max, and are perfect for planted tanks, totally ignoring your plants. |
| Regani Dwarf Pikes are back for the first time in ages. It's been so long in fact that we're having a debate about it here in the office but that notwithstanding they're here and they look near perfect. Believe it or not this is actually one of the smaller individuals in the group. |
| Got in two more Red Pikes this week giving us a total of four available including the two I brought to Global. If you or one of your customers is looking for a show piece then look no further. |
| Anostamus are in from Colombia for the first time in several years! They are a solid 2-3 inches, and will make a great oddball type schooling fish for your store. These are considered semi-aggressive, similar in temperament to tiger barbs, so are great choices for a dither fish in a South American cichlid tank, or with larger more active tankmates. |
| Red Hooks came in with pretty clean fins for once. |
| Somebody call Guiness. Think we might have the world's largest Punctatus Cories in stock this week lol. |
| Got L-75 Yellow Spot Plecos in two sizes this week, regular (pictured here) and large (see next slide). |
| Large Yellow Spot L-75 Pleco. |
| Galaxy Plecos got restocked this week, so still available! Size is fantastic on these. They're pretty mean to each other, so their fins are a little ratty to be honest (as you can see in the picture). This does not hurt them at all, they're perfectly healthy and the fin damage will regrow in just a couple of weeks once you've bought one and have it separated in your store. |
| Featured the Iquitos Tiger Plecos a couple of weeks ago but at the time they were predominantly brown in color. Now that they have had some time to settle in they are really starting to show their amazing "Tiger" pattern. That coupled with the fact that these are very uncommon makes them highly sought after by collectors. |
| Chameleon Whiptails once again displaying why they are worthy of thier namesake. Only wish I had these last week for Global. They are without question THE coolest looking Loricariid. |
| Shoehead Cats may have one of the most non descriptive names on the planet. Giant Brown Leaf Cat is far more suiting. But no matter what you decide to call them the last ones flew out of here in two days. |
| But if you like ugly driftwood type Cats that actually move then be sure to pick up some of the Duckbill Jaguars. Not only do they get up off the bottom of the tank once in a while they actually have a pretty nice pattern to boot. |
| Not sure why these didn't get named Pacman Cats instead of Gulper Cats. Would be interesting to see which came first, these or the frog. Either way if you're familiar with these then you know how deserving they are of either name as they will eat anything they can fit into their gigantic mouths. |
| My favorite little killifish is in after 5 years of waiting! Clown/Rocket Killis are in stock!! These beautiful little fish are hardy, easy to breed, and active, always out and near the surface. They make literally perfect nano fish. These were shown off last week, but we didn't have a price, so i'm leaving this picture in for those of you that were looking for them |
| Large Hump Flowerhorns are still here, and I realized we didn't put a picture of them in the email last week. Here's one of them. Color is fantastic, humps are huge, these should be easy to move to flowerhorn enthusiasts. |
| Regular Archers came back in over the weekend at a substantially bigger size than what we've been seeing as of late. Around 2"+ so should hold up well. |
| Gardneri Killies are the biggest I've seen come through here in the last two years. Pic really doesn't do them as the males are huge! |
| Black Tiger Badis got a restock. Males and females are included, and they're much easier to tell apart in this species than the Scarlet Badis. |
| Gold Tinfoils got a restock this week. Full transparency these are running on the small side but that never seems to matter as they always sell out. |
| Sewellia Hillstream Loaches are back this week. No real pitch here as these are usually gone within a day or two. This is more or less a public service announcement so everyone knows we have them. |
| Moth aka Anchor cats are big enough to the point where you can actually see a bit of their pattern alongside the body. |
| Not exactly new as we got these in a couple of weeks ago but new for the fact that we have never had Reynoldsi Cories here before. Best part about these is that not only are these tank raised but they are huge. One of if not the biggest Cory here currently. |
| Embers are about as nice as they get this week. Hard to tell from the pic but they are huge (relatively speaking). |
| Bloodfins are back in stock this week with great size and color. |
| Orange Von Rios are running bigger than the regulars for the first time in a while. Definitely the better choice this week. |
| Red Eyes are also running nice and big this week. |
| Penguins keep coming in at a massive size. Outside of Diptail Pencils this is one of the coolest schooling freshwater species out there. |
| Serpaes were unavailable for what I believe to be the longest time in recent memory. Good news is they're back and with good size and color. |
| Of the dwarf/pygmy (Pseudomugil) Rainbows this week the Signifers are your best bet. Nearly full grown with plenty if males in the mix. |
| Brilliant Rasboras have are a staple that everyone should be stocking due to it's highly approachable price point and general attractiveness. But this week in particular is a good time to stock up as they are about as big as they get. |
| Homegrown Cherry Barbs are currently being raised here and look super solid. |
| This week's Pearl Danios are the nicest we've seen so far this year. Way oversize with a bright iridescent sheen to them. |
| 4" Brasiliensis are the first new fish that arrived over the weekend. These are looking excellent, tons of blue coming through in the faces and even on their sides. These are a more aggressive Geophagus species, but still nowhere near as bad as, like, a green terror. |
| 4" Green Terrors got a restock early in the week and still looks like we have a good number of these classic bruisers available. |
| Medium Balzani are b'ig enough for some of the males to already be displaying their nuchal humps. They may not be the most colorful of the Geos but that doesn't mean they're not impressive looking. |
| Borrowed some of the wild Severums we had for Global but they are now back at the farm and look amazing. Hobbyist and breeders are always on the lookout for fresh bloodlines to add to their brood stock and these don't come around very often. |
| Everyone's favorite murderous tankbuster, Managuense aka Jaguar Cichlids are finally back in stock. Slightly bigger than the last few batches but these are always crowd pleaser regardless of size. |
| 4" Import Peacocks have some great |
| Yellow Blaze Z-Rock (Lithobates) are added to the already quite expansive list of colored up, beautiful adult male African cichlids on offer for you right now. |
| Wouldn't ordinarily feature an item when I only have one piece available but in the sense of keeping things fair I figured I would give evreyone a shot at this wild Black Calvus. |
| Same as above goes for this wild "White" Calvus. |
| This gorgeous Protomelas Insignis was on display last week at Global and is now back at the farm is avaialble for purchase. Absolute show stopper. |
| Same as above goes for this Lichnochromis Acuticeps. Fairly rare to begin with we never see these available at this size. Had to call in a favor from a good friend to get our hands on this guy. |
| Red Top Hongi might be one of the be looking of the "old school" Mbuna. These are listed as "regular" but are pushing close to a medium size. |
| Bleekeri aka Starry Night are back in this week at what the vendor is calling a select size. It's basically in between a regular and a medium. But they are already starting to display some color and the males are beginning to spar. Awesome display specimen as adults. Almost look like a Black Crappie for you sports fisherman. |
| Got 2.5-3" Blue Diamonds as their own item 3 this week and not just in the assortment. This is the most popular of the solid blue Discus types. |
| 2.5-3" Red Turquoise |
| Medium Royal Plecos are some of the nicest I have ever seen. And not just here but anywhere. Great color, great lines and great fins. |
| Got Green Phantom Plecos in just about every size you could want. Pictured here is one of the XLs. |
| Small Blue Phantom Plecos are bordering on medium size this week. |
| Tanks raised Julii Cories are about as big as they ever come in. Might also have some wild imports from Peru available so be sure to check with your rep. |
| Found a vat of Loxozonus Cories this week. Look super clean but are also super limited. |
