Order now to get the new Starfire Red® Gourami's next week
Hey folks,
Launch day is here! Starfire Red® Gouramis are officially up for sale! Feels like it's been an eternity around here as we have been eagerly awaiting this day for quite some time now. But they are all prepped and rady to go. And for those of you who don't follow social media (don't feel bad, outside of work neither do I ) we have been posting videos of these and the response has been tremendous. Best part is there aren't any quantity limits so you can order as many as you need! We have displayed these at both Aquashella Orlando and Global and people were over the moon for these so I expect this will be one of the best releases yet.
What's even better is not only do we have the Gouramis launching but had a fantastic week of incoming so there are plenty items to choose from to go along with you order. I'm gonna start with the far east because we got some items that I have been trying to order for eons and they finally got filled. Hard to choose which to go with first but I'll stick to my roots and start with not only a Cichlid but one the largest Cichlids in the world, Boulengerochromis Microlepis aka the Emperor Cichlid. These monsters can grow up to 3' and are absolute stunners as adults. Bright gold coloration with subtle blue speckling along the body. These do not come around very often (first time since I've been here) and there are serious collectors always on the hunt for these. But going to the opposite side of the size spectrum brings us to my next favorite new item, Thayeri Cichlids aka Dwarf Acara. These Curviceps relatives are also fairly uncommon and I really don't understand why. Personally I think they have a much more interesting pattern than their cousins even if they lack the gold coloration. These really do standout as I did a double take when I tried walking past them in our pack room.
But the incoming wasn't just loaded with rare, unusual Cichlids. I would venture to say that the most commonly coveted item will be the Guentheri Killies. You don't have to be a hardcore hobbyist to appreciate these. Their gaudy color speaks for itself. These stay relatively small but be sure to give them plenty of space as they can be quite quarrelsome especially amongst themselves. Sticking with the small and colorful theme brings us to the Scarlet Badis. Not much to add here as most of you have heard my nano speech multiple times by now. Just like letting everyone know when we have them so that way no one misses out on one of the most popular nano fish out there. In addition to those we also got in some Indian Blue Badis. These may not be quite as bright but they certainly are a lot bigger with some gigantic males in the mix.
Somehow we manage to amass a plethora of Plecos this week. Kudos to anyone who can guess where I learned the word plethora from lol. Quantities on some of these are pretty limited so be sure to get with your rep early. At the risk of sounding redundant I'll start with the L-75 Yellow Spots. This is one of my all time favorites. A subtle yet still impressive mid-sized species that just isn't available as often as it should be. Next up are the Redfin Cactus Plecos. These will eventually grow up to be very intimidaing looking beasts covered in what look be spikes, but fortunately these guys have very slow metabolisms and takes years to achieve full size. If it's color you're looking for we still have some L-81 Orange Seams available. These are a Gold Nugget type with an unfortunate name as they look almost identical just with smaller spots than the L-18s. And last but definitely not least we just got in a ne batch of Super Red Bushynose. The name is a little misleading as I feel "Super Rust" is a bit more accurate but no matter what you call them the always sell out in a couple of days.
And of course we will end this week's newsletter with Florida Raised Cichlids. Some familiar faces got much needed restocks this week. Red spot Gold Severums are back with regular, select and medium sizes. Plus we still have one jumbo show piece available that he had brought to Global so if you're interested please get with your rep for pricing. Regular good ole fashioned Green Severums made a triumphant return. For something a bit more aggressive we got in medium Green Terrors and Jack Dempseys in both medium and large sizes. Got in a boatload of large/XL Peacocks this week that are all show quality (will probably snag a couple of these to take to LA Pet Fair). And for the first time in years we got in some locally raised Buffalo Heads.
Reach out to your rep if you have any questions.

| We finally got Guentheri Killies in and they look amazing. Looks to be an all male batch but the price is still very reasonable. I have been trying to get these in for over a year and our Indo supplier finally came through for us. Pic definitely does not do them justice as they my very well be the brightest colored fish we have here on the farm this week. |
| Indian Blue Badis are back and although the size is rather mixy there are some monster males in the group like this big fell here. I can't emphasize enough how popular nano planted tanks continue to be therefore everyone should have these on their orders this week. |
| Same as above goes for the Scarlet Badis except for the size. These are much smaller but that never matters as these are not only the most popular species in their genus, they are one of the most popular nano fish in the hobby. |
| Similis Cories are in for what I believe to be the first time or at the very least the first time in a very long time as we didn't have any archive pics of these nor were they in our system. Either way there unique looking Cories are tank raised out of Indo and have a very distinct have speckled have solid green look to them. Cories are the best selling scavenger for community and planted aquariums so the more variety you have to offer the better. |

| This is probably the most excited I've been for a gray/brown/black fish in years. Thayeri Cichlids aka Dwarf Acara are close relatives of Curviceps but way cooler. One, because they are far less common. And two because they have deeper colored pattern and the gray is so dark its almost purple. Cichlid enthusiaists are gonna go nuts for these! |
| Not quite as cool as rare but probably more popular are the old fashioned Kribensis. For whatever reason these just don't come in as frequently as they used to so these are sure to sell out almost immediately. Size is solid (around 1.5") and these are at the point where as soon as you put them over substrate their color will pop. |
| Think this is the longest stretch I've gone without featuring a "balloon" fish in a Monday email. Welp, the streak is broken. Blood Red Balloon Jewel Cichlids got a restock late last week. |
| Finally got in what I would consider a trophy fish as far as Lake Tanagnyikan Cichlids are concerned. And that's a very fitting statement considering Boulengerochromis Microlepis aka Emperor Cichlids grow to trophy size, over 30"! When I was in retail I managed to get my greedy little mitts on these only twice, and both times they sold out in a single weekend. Long story short these are hard to get and people are always looking for them. |
| Borneo Suckers are a little mixy in size but are running larger than usual on average. Fantastic cleaner for smaller aquariums. |
| Closely related to are the very ornate looking Sewellia Hillstream Loaches. These do best in well oxygenated, strong water current conditions. |
| New Ornate Bichirs are about 30% bigger than the last few batches we've gotten in. This pic was taken right after they arrived. Pattern is much darker with the typical bold contrast these guys are known for. |
| Tire Track Eels are in stock and this week's batch is very deserving of the name. There are subspecies/locality variants that posses a more spotted pattern but this group has the traditional pattern for which they're named. |
| Zig Zag Eels also got a restock this week and while they're not running quite as big as their Tire Track cousins they are one of if not the most economically priced eels making them super popular for beginners. |
| Marble Morays are often marketed as a freshwater species of eel but truth be told they really do best under brackish conditions and I've even seen these successfully converted into straight saltwater aquariums. Start these on easy to capture live prey items such as ghost shrimp to help them settle in quickly. |
| New Archers are about the biggest we've had in nearly a year. well over 2" and looking great so far. |
| Figure Eight Puffers got a restock this week and just like the Archers these are considerably larger than the last several batches. Be sure to feed these guys lots of frozen food (feed at least twice a day) to keep their bellies full and their color nice and bright. |
| Bigger brackish baddies seems to be a theme this week as even the Spotted Puffers came in with a bit more beef to them. Same as with the Figure Eights goes for these guys. As long as you keep them packed with frozen foods they should hold up great and look their absolute best. |
| We have what have to be world record sized Bloodfin Tetras this week. THese are insanely huge with a ton of gravid (holding eggs) females. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who has been wanting to get into the Bloodfin Tetra breeding game lol. |
| Diamonds are also running particularly large this week. They are right at the size where not only are they showing all their sparkles but the males have their exaggerated dorsal fins on full display. |
| Orange Von Rios are the brightest they've been in months. Must be all that early summer sunlight they've been getting. |
| Serpaes look to be coming in with consistent numbers again along with really nice size. |
| Yes, while technically not a Tetra I really didn't have anywhere else to put the Pinktail Chalceus this week. But they are a Characin so I'm saying that's close enough. |
| Rertoculus Lapidifers need a more marketable name as they are one of the coolest Geo relatives in the hobby. Color is amazing coupled with some very unique behavior. |
| Have a handful of both regular and medium sized Altifrons available this week. Color is already very nice on these and will only get better with time. |
| 3" Heckelii have loads of color already and are one of the best values this week. |
| Regular Green Sverums are back in stock this week. Nothin fancy, just nice to have an old fashioned staple back in house again. |
| After being out briefly we have regular, select and medium Red Spot Gold Severums available this week. Mediums have the fewest on hand at the moment so order early if you want some at that size. All three have very nice color. |
| Medium and large Jacks are back both are pretty limited. Hoping that will get better as we get further into summer weather here. |
| And speaking of classics getting restocks medium Green Terrors are also back in this week. |
I put the medium Fredrichstahli aka Yellow Jackets in the email this week because they somehow didn't make it onto last week's price list but we do still have some available and they are outstanding. Item number is 60433. |
| Got in a TON of medium, large and XL Peacocks and Hap/peacock hybrids this week. Pretty much every color and pattern you could ask for with a particular emphasis on OB. |
| Medium Assorted Peacocks have plenty of pure strains in the mix including this Rd Jake. |
| Perfect example of a non-OB morph you'll find in with the large assorted Peacocks this week |
| Found this Electric Blue Ahli infused hybrid in the XL mix this morning. Perfect for anyone looking for additions for a show tank. |
| This XL OB looks to have some Rostrauts in the mix. |
| Albino Kyoga Flamebacks might be the best bang for the buck as far as color is concerned this week. These are in at a regular size when they could easily pass as mediums. |
| Got Buffalo Heads in for the first time in ages. These are tank raised by one of our own team members. Once a staple in the hobby these have gotten harder and harder to come by. Thee will sell on name alone. |
