GloFish® Starfire Red ®Angels
Hey folks, opening monologue gonna be a little brief due to the shortened week and having a few staff members out. Even though it was a holiday week that didn't stop us from getting in some great shipments. Got in most of the usual suspects including Colombia, Bangkok, Indo, Thailand and Singapore as well as plenty of Florida raised fish.
We'll start with the far east. Got restocked on more Bumble Bee Gobies. I think this is the first time since I've been here that we seem to have a never-ending supply of these little brackish beauties. Great little nano fish but the usually require some live food in the beginning such as baby brine shrimp or daphnia. I have pretty good success getting them onto Sera micro pellets when mixed with the live fees. Also in the mix we got in some of the nicest Blue and Gold rams that I've seen in quite awhile. Some of the Golds are already staring to orange caps atop their heads. And speaking of dwarf Cichlids we got in some more Apistogramma Agassizi Double Reds. Last batch flew out of here and i suspect these will do the same. On the opposite end of the Cichlid spectrum we got in Black Widow Frontosa. Now while they're rather small currently that won't last long as these guys will eventually grow to over a foot in length.
Got Colombia back in this week with some restocks on staple items including Rubber Plecos, Farlowellas, Spotted and Striped Raphales and believe it or not Otos! We also got in some really nice sized small Royal Plecos. I know that sounds like an oxymoron but these are running pretty big for "smalls". Green Phantoms are also running big and should have more than plenty of Colombian Zebra and Snowball plecos. Also got in more Sabertooths since the last batch sold out in a day. And while they may not be my favorite fish in the world we did get in some regular Red Pacu.
And of course it wouldn't be an email without mentioning Florida raised Cichlids. I'm running out of time so I will just say be sure to check out the pics below because we got some absolute killer stuff in this week.

Sabertooths sold out almost immediately last time so we sure to bulk up on them with this shipment. Should be enough to go around this time but don't sleep on them if you want any. |
Got one Red Pike available and yes legit only one. So don't build an order around this since only one lucky winner is gonna walk away with this guy. |
Medium Silver Arowanas holding up great and putting on some size. One of the most popular large predatory species out there. |
Regular Red Pacu are back in stock for the first time in a bit. Everyone should know the speech on these but in case you haven't heard it be sure to let you know how big these guys get and how quickly they grow. |
Should have plenty of Colombian Sharks to go around this week. |
Red Hooks been here long enough for their fins to be almost perfect. |
Should hopefully have enough Otos to fill a decent number of orders but if you're in need of some get with your rep as early as possible because these always sell out in a hurry. |
Got a new batch of Apistogramma Agassizi Double Reds from Indo this week. Not quite as big as the last group but still nice with plenty of colored up males. This is a mixed sex group with about a 50/50 split male/female ratio. |
Black Widow Frontosas are back in stock. If you haven't tried these you really should. They're insanely popular with hobbyists and despite the elevated price tag sell very well. Plus they grow surprisingly quick for a Front. |
World's largest Pea Puffers! Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration but these are definitely some of the largest I've seen come though here. |
Panda Tetras were on hold for a bit but they're good and sturdy now and ready to send out. This is a great addition to any Tetra selection as these guys are not super common and not found in box stores. |
Mono Sebaes are back and holding up well so far. Just like their Argentea cousins these guys hold up best under brackish water conditions. However long term I have had better success with this species. |
Got a handful of Delhezi Bichirs left. Out of all the Polypterus species this one is definitely the best bang for the buck. Decent size with a great pattern for not a lot of money. |
4-5" Fire Eels are in this week and so far look absolutely fantastic. Right on point as far as size is concerned but great color and pattern on these. |
Zebra Danios are back! I have no idea for how long since they have basically been out of stock since Milton. Gotten a few far east shipments on them here and there but very few in between. These are huge (as far as Zebra Danios go) and look great. Could be out of these by the time I'm done writing this so act fast if you want any. |
Never been a huge fan of this fish but I have to say these are some of if not the nicest Choprai aka Glowlight Danios I've ever seen. Size is a bit over the board but the color is fantastic. So bright to the point where I did a double take while walking the main warehouse. |
Platinum Green Tiger Barbs got a restock this week and I have to say if I had to choose between these and the regular Green Tiger Barbs I would go with these all day long. Certainly worth the extra money and size is almost always way better on these. |
Redtail Sharks are back in and hopefully it stays that way for the remainder of the summer. I believe these were another casualty of Milton but hopefully everyone has good numbers moving forward on what is a industry staple. |
Opaline Gouramis are available this week and they look great. Always preferred these over the regular Blues. That extra striated pattern really adds something. Size is a little mixy as you can see from the pic but still very nice overall. |
Gold Gouramis are also back this week. These are definitely running on the small side but color and pattern are both really nice. |
Assorted Dumbo Guppies are outstanding this week. So difficult to get decent pics of these given the fact that a lot of our tanks are fairly scratched up and hard to see through. But hopefully this bird's eye view gives you an idea of how nice the color and finnage is on these guys. |
Lyretail Guppies are also a bit of a standout this week. This is an Endler's hybrid and while the body color isn't as gaudy as some other guppy types but the tails on these guys really make them pop. |
A little light on Swords this week but the Neons are definitely the best option. Very female heavy but color is very bright and stand out from across the room. |
Large Assorted Sailfin Mollies are exactly that. They're quite big with a great mix of colors. |
You can tell summer is here because the Rainbows just keep getting better each and every week. And the Reds are no exception. Good male /female ratio on these and the males are sporting full color already. |
Regular Bosemanis are back and hopefully mediums are right around the corner. By far the most popular Rainbow species there is. |
I've always been puzzled as to why the Kamakas don't share in as much popularity as some of the other species since these a have such wonderful contrast to them. Males are already showing their white dorsal blaze. |
Madagascar Rainbows are running about as and as big as they get. Males showing lots of color on the body and in the fins. |
Black Emperors are back in from the far east after being on hiatus for a few weeks. While I am a huge fan of the regular Emperor Tetra (probably my favorite species overall) these have really grown on me. Black with the purple sheen really gives them a unique look. |
Green Fire Tetras are also back in from Indo this week. |
Rosies might be the best looking tetras on the farm this week. Often times referred to as a poor man's Candy Cane Tetra, this batch more than rivals them. Males are staring to show some nice deep red coloration to them. |
Black Neons aren't quite as big as the last time I featured them but still coming in a a decent size. Always a crowd pleaser. |
Bloodfins are starting to come in with some consistency after being mostly unavailable for the last few months. Size is pretty decent with great looking fins. |
Glowlight Tetras are running way oversize this week. |
Penguins got a restock this week. Solid size and one of the coolest schoolers out there. |
Large Rainbow Cichlids came in last week and these are fantastic looking. Nearly full grown and ready to spawn. Not nearly as common as the used to be you clearly see where they get their name from. |
Got three different sizes on Red Spot Gold Severums this week-regular, select and medium. Selects are probably the best value when it comes to size and color. |
Got a new batch of Geophagus Sveni in this week and they're nearly twice the size of the last group. Came in last night so still very silver but that won't last long. this species starts to color up at a very young age. These should start showing their red markings within only a week or two once they've settled in. |
All male Ndiwe Fire haps came in late last week and they are without a doubt the nicest looking fish on the farm. They are Florida raised so these are not "juiced", they really are that bright and will continue to be. |
Albino German Red Peacocks also came in late last week and are equally impressive. These are all males as well and there's not a bad one in the bunch. |
While I prefer to promote Florida raised fish there's no denying that some of the import peacocks that are coming in from the far east are pretty spectacular as well. |
I feature these every week because you just cannot go wrong with the medium mixed male Peacocks. Always some gems in the mix like this guy. |
Regular size Albino Compressiceps came in late last week and just like the last couple of batches are oversize with bright lemon yellow coloration. Not a huge fan of most albino strains but these head turners. |
Got some Livingstoni in at a medium size this week. This one of my favorite old school haps. Been around forever but still popular as can be. Both juveniles and females have a great mottled pattern and the males turn into absolute show pieces as adults. |
This is what male Livingstoni look like as the begin to mature. |
Got in some absolute monster Brichardi from one of our local customers last week. These look to have some Daffodil to them since they are displaying quite a bit of yellow. This is a large male, it is a mixed sex group so females will run a bit smaller. These are absolutely ready to spawn at this size. |

Large Albino Bushynose aren't running super huge like some weeks but the color is almost tangerine on these. Super sharp any way you cut it. |
Venezuelan Black Cories came in at a great size and so far appear to be holding up really well. I really don't have to much of a spin on these as they always sell out in a hurry. |
Gold Nigrita Synos are available this week and at a great size. These work great as scavengers with just about any type of larger Cichlids. |
