    2.5" Pigeon Blood Discus
    Hey folks,
hope everyone is still staying busy during what us typically the "slow" time of year. Surprisingly things have pretty steady so far and hopefully that continues. Since that is the case we're continuing to bring in more exciting fish and this week is no different. Got in a number of shipments from the far east as well as some Colombia restocks and plenty of Florida raised goodies.

For far east we got in one of my absolute favorites, Clouded Archers. For those of you who aren't familiar with these it is one of the only true species of freshwater Archers. They do not require any salt thus making them very easy to care for. They also stay considerably smaller than the more commonly available species of Archer (around 6"). They cost a bit more but well worth as these tend to be very hardy. Also in from the far east are some of the nicest looking Knight Gobies I've seen in quite some time. There are some very large males in the mix sporting massive dorsal rays (see pic below). We also got in some of the nicest Chili Oscars. These came in late last week but there wasn't enough time to feature them. Both Size and color are excellent on these. And we still have plenty of great looking Discus in multiple sizes and price ranges.

As I've mentioned before summer is my favorite time of year down here (for fish, not for the weather). Reason for that is just about everything runs big right about now and the Rainbows are a perfect example of that. So much so that for the first time one of our vendors is offering us assorted all males in both a medium and a large size. Often times there's not a huge difference between medium and larges so I usually recommend sticking with the mediums but that's not the case this time. These are some of the largest Rainbows I've ever seen. They are super impressive and would make for a great display. Check out the pics below.

And of course no email would be complete without featuring some Florida raised Cichlids. Got in so much this week I'll just mention a few here so you can read about the rest down below in the captions. Not new but one of my favorites are the 5" Dovii. These are considerably bigger than the last batch as most of them are over size. We also got in a handful of 5" Red Devils. Size varies a bit more on these but they're all pretty close to the mark and quite a few of them are of the piebald variety. Got in two sizes on Geo Brasiliansis this week,4" & 5". Both are very nice and showing great color. Also got a restock on large Jack Dempseys. These are very limited so act fast if you want any. And as usual we have plenty of nice Africans in stock including Albino Compressiceps and medium Livingstoni that both got a restock this week.

And although it might be a little early I want to remind everyone that we will be at SuperZoo in Vegas this upcoming August. Want to start planting that seed in case any of you are still on the fence about going. It's one of the largest events for our industry with hundreds of vendors and manufacturers from all over the world. There's always lots of new products being showcased and we are also bringing a few surprises ourselves. Plus it's Vegas. Good way to turn a work trip into a vacation Hope to see you there!

Clouded (Golden) Archers are back!  These are the true freshwater species that are much more desirably than the standard archer fish that are a little more common and a lot cheaper.  You get what you pay for, and these Clouded archers are worth the money for sure.
New Knight Gobies are holding up so far on Monday, hoping these cool oddball fish keep doing well for the rest of the week!  They're brackish fish, so they do need salt and will not do well in pure freshwater.
Lemon Oscars got restocked over the weekend and both size and color are much better than the last couple batches.
Figure 8 Puffers aren't huge but they're the biggest ones to come in over the past six months. Nice fat bellies and good color on these.
Electric Blue Rams are back!  These little buggers have been scratched off our last 2 or 3 import orders, so great to see them finally back in tanks and on the list again.
Rocket Gar came in absolutely massive, biggest we've ever gotten before, I think.  They're big enough to eat Rosy Red minnows and not just guppies.
Glass Catfish are always super popular and we got a good number in this week.  They do best in good size schools, so you're not doing your customers any favors by ordering 3 or 6.  You should really not be selling less than 6 at a time to any one customer, they often refuse to eat they'll get so stressed without several buddies nearby,
4-5" Zig Zag Eel and normal size zig zags are both restocked.  Been a couple weeks without any eels here, so welcome back.
4-5" Fire Eels got a restock this week. Albeit on the smaller side these guys came in nice and plump and already showing a good amount of red. These sell well on name alone.

Red Glass Barbs might be the best looking batch in months.  The males are all very nice and bright, and there are a lot less than 50% females, so great time to buy!
New Tinfoil Barbs are about twice the size as the last batch and already have color coming into the fins.
Cherry barbs are coming in with a bit more consistency. The size varies from batch to batch just so you know what to expect but what's out there at the moment has some decent size to it but that can literally change overnight.
Redtail Sharks are back!  I think hopefully for the foreseeable future.  The local farmer is back in stock with them, and we don't expect more disruptions.
Gold Gourami are restocked and got pretty big in their 2 week hiatus from the list.  Definitely the best gourami out of the blues, golds, opalines.
Peacock Gudgeons are on the list as regulars but most of them are running medium+.
    Livebearers
    Red Dragon Dumbo Guppy
    Red Endler's
Hawaii Variatus aren't quite "correct" for what a standard Hawaiian variatus is "supposed" to look like, but they're still very good looking fish that should have no trouble selling.  Variatus in general tend to hold up a lot better than Platies for some reason, even though they look basically the same
Sunset Wag are definitely the largest platy on the list this week (other than the XL of course)
Speaking of XL Platies, they look awesome and have a perfect mix of types.  Not running heavy on anything in particular so its impossible to not get a good mix.
Marigold Wag swordtails are the best pick for a swordtail this week.  Nice size, and bright golden color.
    Rad Rainbows
Large all-male Rainbowfish are back!  Here's what the Reds in the mix look like.
Here's a big Emerald in the large all-male mix
And here's a beautiful Parkinsoni in the mix.
    Tetras
Longfin Serpaes are back to being Florida bred and it shows. Great size, color and finnage on these.
Lemon Tetras keep getting bigger each week and are nice and bright..
Red Phantom Tetras from the last Colombia shipment are about as big and colorful as they get.
Diamond Tetras are also running way oversized.  If you don't normally carry Diamonds, you definitely should, and now is a great time to stock up.
Blue Tetras got absolutely huge this week. Basically full grown and showing a ton of nice blue/purple color.
Albeit a common staple the Glowlights are running huge this week.
XRay Tetras are basically see-through Pristella tetras.  Normal Pristellas haven't been available ever since the GloFish® Pristellas came out, so this is as close as it gets if you want "normal" Pristellas nowadays.
Male Congo Tetras are absolute stunners right now.  And they're cheaper than the mixed sex ones for some reason.  Buy them before our admin staff figures out they messed up on the price.
    Central/South American Cichlids
The large Brasiliensis Geophagus are absolutely stunning and I think we have more than a dozen available.
Honduran Red Points are back after a long hiatus. Albeit a cousin of the super common Convict Cichlid these guys have more blue than gray to them and tend to be considerably more docile.
Red Spot Turquoise Severums got a restock this week and while they make look a little rough around the edges these guys are one of the nicest looking "wild" types" out there.
Large sized Jacks are back!  About 4 inches.  Showing good color already and should be easy to sell from name recognition alone.  It seems like 90% of your customers probably have only ever heard of Jacks, Firemouths, Convicts, Red Devils, and Green Terros.
5 inch Red Devils are full of these awesome Piebalds along with some solid orange individuals as well.
As I mentioned in the opening the 5" Dovii aka Wolf Cichlid are running oversize this week. These don't play well with others but make for an impressive display fish as adults.
    Old World Cichlids
Medium assorted Haps are running big enough that some of the males are already displaying near adult coloration like this Borleyi.
Another example of how big the medium Haps are showing color is this Dimidiochromis Stigatus.
Albino Comps are restocked and just as bright as ever.
Medium Livingstoni are available individually and are also included in the Mixed Medium Haps for a great price.
We got a new smaller size of FL bred Peacocks.  MIXED SEX.  I think we're going to call these "select" size and will have a SKU number and price on Monday.  They're going to be very cheap though.  Note: this is the biggest and most colorful fish in the batch pictured here.  There's a lot of females, and there's a lot of males that are just barely starting to color up.  Most are between 2 and 3 inches.
Mixed Medium Male Peacocks got a little bit of fresh blood infused this week, and they're showing good natural color.
    Discus
This is what we have as a "cobalt" Discus right now.  NOT solid blue fish but still very impressive.
Assorted 2.5-3 inch discus have some nice fish like this golden-colored Pigeonblood.
    2" Cobalt
Assorted 2.5 inch discus, this one I believe is a Snakeskin of some sort. They look really neat as adults with a very intricate pattern.
Pigeonblood discus have a lot of variation in the mix.  Here's a mostly red one, and the fish in the opening pic above is also a Pigeonblood out of the  same batch
    Plecos & Pals
Only got a handful of XL Green Phantom Plecos left and they've been here long enough to be in near perfect condition. Grab a couple while you still can.
Medium Lemon Blue Eye Bushynose are back and are showing why they deserve that name. Definitely my favorite of all the captive raised strains.
Also got in some regular size Lemon Blue Eye Bushynose for those looking for a more economical version.
Melanistus Cory are new this week and came in great size
Still have a handful of Driftwood Cats left. They are absolutely perfect and are showing off their wonderful mottled pattern.
New batch of Zebra loaches are solid in size with pronounced striping. These are excellent for controlling nuisance sanils.
    Inverts
Red Crystal Shrimp are one of the many, many new shrimp this week.  I think we got more shrimp at one time right now than I can ever remember us having, so it's a great time to stock a shrimp tank.
Bloody Mary Shrimp are some of the nicest to come through here. Often times they come in very dark but these look more like a cherry shrimp on steroids.
Pumpkin Shrimp are back and are great if you're looking for a color other than red (that tends to be the most prominent color amongst ornamental shrimp)
Orange Rili Shrimp Have a great break-up in their color scheme making them rather unique.
Bamboo Shrimp look like something out of a science fiction nightmare. But despite their appearnce they're very docile filter feeders.
Yes, I know Dwarf Frogs are not an invertebrate but didn't have a better section to put them under. Mentioning these because we usually sell out of these very quickly and don't always have enough to go around but this week it looks like we have plenty. Plus the size on them is bigger than normal.
