Hey folks, you saw correctly. There is a new color of GloFish® Cory coming out end of fall, Moonrise Pink®! These are every bit as nice in person as they are in the photograph. We put these under several different types of lighting situations and they always looked great. These will be making their triumphant debut November 30th. These will be in limited numbers but we will do our best to fill as many as we can.
In other fish news got in another great shipment from Colombia that included a long lost friend, Gulper Cats! They could replace the hippos in the popular children's game with these guys as they will devour anything in sight. That being said these aren't particularly aggressive, just very very hungry. Tankmates should be big enough to not be swallowed but peaceful enough not to bother them. Not necessarily new but definitely back by popular demand are the large Wild Bushynose. And yes, I know we got these in last week but I say back by popular demand because they were so popular they sold out almost immediately. Hoping we got enough this time around to make it more than a day or two. Speaking of popular we also got in a new batch of Metae Cories. These always fly out of here and even though we brought in nearly twice what we did last time they are surely going to fly out of here.
The far east was no slouch as far as incoming was concerned either. Tiger Datnoids are back and better than ever. No really, this is probably the nicest batch I've seen come through here in terms of size and color. Just about any species of Datnoid is always highly sought after by die hard enthusiasts as their availability has always been fairly limited. Similarly are the Mono Sebae. While these do come available with a bit more frequency it's definitely not something you see every day. Plus there are always hobbyists looking to add to their brackish collections for which there are very limited options. Speaking of always sought after we got in 10-11cm Pearlscale Goldfish. These are always in high demand with e availability always being in short supply. We got in probably the most I've ever seen here at one time but I can guarantee it won't be enough. These are super nice and that's coming from someone who isn't exactly the world's biggest goldfish fan. And last but not least we got two of the most impressive livebearers there are, Firecracker and Vampire Swords. These are both bold and beautiful. No matter which one you choose, I recommend both as I always did because they always sold out in a weekend, you will not be disappointed.
Well looks like we're about out of hurricane season so unlike this time last year there are still plenty of great Florida fish available. We'll start with something rather common and yet super impressive, Pearl Gouramis. I find this one perplexing since they were running fairly small most of the some but now as the temps are starting to cool down (yes, mid 80s is cool for this time of year) the size has jumped up immensely. But as most of you know by now that can change almost overnight so grab some while you can. Equally impressive, however no real surprise are the medium Red Spot Gold Severums. Yes I mention them about every other week, but that's because they are one of the best looking fish on the farm about every other week. Homegrown and hormone free these are absolute stunners. On the opposite end of the color spectrum we got in Herichthys Deppi aka Nautla Cichlids(no one really calls them that). They are relatively small and gray for now but they grow up to be fantastic looking as adults and even at this size they are showing some nice red freckling in the face. If you have cichlid enthusiasts as part of your customer base then you need to buy these. They will go in a heartbeat. These are very hard to find and people are always looking for them. And I never get tired of being able to offer something new when it comes to Florida raised Cichlids. This week we have Electric Green Carpintis. yes, you read that right, not Electric blue but Electric Green. It is the crazy concoction created by one of our local vendors who mixed Carpintis with a strain of Parrot Cichlid. Looks mostly Carpinitis like but the adult color is outrageous as is evidenced in the pics below. These are sure to be a hit and we have very limited numbers on these.
